What grades and subjects do you cover? Grades 6–12: English language and literature, history, and social sciences — plus college application essays for juniors and seniors.
How do online sessions work? Live, one-on-one video sessions with shared documents and screen. Twenty five years of tutoring has taught me that the connection between tutor and student matters far more than the room they're in — and online means no commute, easy scheduling, and sessions that continue even when your family travels.
My child has an IEP / 504 plan / diagnosis. Can you work with that? Very likely yes. I've worked extensively with students with dyslexia, ADHD, and autism, and my approach is built around how each individual student learns. Mention it in the consultation and we'll talk specifics.
Do you assign extra homework? Rarely. My job is to make your student more effective at the work they already have — and to build skills through it.
How long until we see results? Honestly: it depends on the student and the goal. Some families see grade movement within a marking period; deeper skills like independent writing build over months. What you'll see quickly is a change in confidence and approach — and I'll keep you posted throughout.
What if we need to cancel a session? Life happens. Monthly enrollment includes a straightforward make-up policy — details at enrollment.
Do you guarantee grades? No responsible educator does. What I bring is twenty five years of experience, a track record, and complete honesty with you about progress.
Is virtual tutoring as effective as in-person?
After 25 years of in-person tutoring and now working fully online, my honest answer: for this work — writing, discussion, close reading — yes, and sometimes better. Shared documents mean we can edit an essay together in real time, sessions aren't lost to commutes, travel, or snow days, and many students are actually more candid and focused on video than across a table. What matters is the relationship and the method, not the room.
