The subjects

English Language & Literature (grades 6–12) Reading comprehension, annotation and active reading, literary analysis, essay structure, grammar and style, and class support for whatever novel or unit your student is studying right now.

History & Social Sciences (grades 6–12) Evidence-based writing, document analysis, research skills, historical argument, and support for U.S. History, World History, Government/Civics, and social studies coursework.

College Application Essays (grades 11–12) Story discovery, drafting, and revision for the personal statement and supplemental essays. The essay stays in the student's voice — my job is to help them find what's worth saying and say it clearly. (Seasonal: heaviest June–December of senior year. Juniors are wise to start in spring.)

Study & Executive Function Skills (woven into everything) Breaking big projects into milestones, organizing research, managing deadlines, and building the systems that turn ability into finished work.

Students with learning differences

Some of my most rewarding work over twenty five years has been with bright students who learn differently — dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum, processing differences, and students with no formal diagnosis who simply need a different approach. My background includes direct work with autistic students in middle and high school and a psychology degree that informs everything I do.

What this looks like in practice: audiobooks paired with print for a dyslexic reader; structured templates and color-coded evidence for a student who has ideas but can't organize them; one clear objective per session for a student overwhelmed by big projects. The method fits the student — never the other way around.

The format

• One-on-one, live online sessions via video —virtual tutoring with the same personal attention as sitting side by side. Your student works with me directly, from anywhere.

• A consistent weekly time slot — routine is half the battle.

• Monthly enrollment — a reserved weekly slot, billed monthly, with a straightforward make-up policy for conflicts and illness. Ongoing work is where real improvement happens; one-off cramming rarely moves the needle.

• Regular family updates — you'll know what we're working on and how your student is progressing.

Investment

Single sessions — $90. For one-off needs: an essay review, exam preparation, or a trial session before enrolling.
